Happy Father's Day Card with SVG FileThis happy father's day card was done with a free SVG file. This one took me 2 attempts because my card-stock was not great quality. I used a normal folded card and then I did the design in layers on top. The "Father's" part was a rectangular foil under the red card-stock. The red card-stock for "Father's" was cut out to reveal the gold foil. My regular school glue did NOT hold up well in the long run so I would use something else next time.
Happy Birthday Mom Card Created With SVG FileThis happy birthday card for mom was created with a simple SVG file. I stuck with a knockout for the letters in "happy" and cut out the main card layer for "happy" and "mom" then I cut out "Birthday" in foil card-stock and glued it on at the end. The second layer of floral card-stock was glued into the inside at the very end.
Get Well Soon Card With SVG FileThis get well soon card was created with a simple SVG cut file. The "Get" and "Soon" were cut out in the main card where the second layer shows behind. The second darker green later was glued to the inside of the card after cutting. The "well" and hearts were glued on from glitter card-stock at the end. This was a simple project that didn't cost me anything!
Make A List!It is as simple as that. When you have some down time one day this is a very helpful hack that has saved me many hours later on. You will want to have your fonts organized to a point where you at least know what is for commercial use and what is not. Once you have that, you can go into Word or another text program and start typing out the names of the fonts that you use on the regular, or that you want to try.
Next you will select the font title you just typed in and change the font to the name of the font! That way when you reference your list later you will get a good idea of what the font will look like. You will also have the name of the font so that you can quickly change out your design. Practicing Faux CalligraphyMy first attempt at a real test run with faux calligraphy! I need more practice.
Faux calligraphy is a style of hand-lettering. You can use any sort of medium to achieve a similar look. You simply letter or "bounce" your cursive handwriting and then you go back and make your more vertical lines thicker. This in turn makes it look more like calligraphy - but has a very modern touch! There are lots of tutorials and practice sheets online. Can't wait to try it out again! |
